Jon Zaremba XLZABK002
I first encountered Jon Zaremba’s work in a novelette in David Riley’s “Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy” anthology series no 11. It was for me an astoundingly brilliant and unique tale. Frankly, it has been years since I have read anything quite as remarkable. In XLZABK002 Zaremba offers seven stories each of which would fit a different genre of speculative fiction. There is a unified theme: resurrection, actualisation and transformation but I suspect that every reader will find something different in each approach. There is something of Nietzsche, of Twin Peaks, of neopaganism, sword and sorcery, myth and early Pink Floyd.
The concepts are challenging but Zaremba writes the most natural and exciting prose imaginable.
